first family: the barn comes to life

Our first barn residents made themselves at home last week ... A momma dog and her seven puppies. We weren't quite ready for move-ins, but how could we say no? Without a little chaos and excitement, I think we'd be bored.

They're an exceptionally beautiful family of dogs. As you can imagine, we'll have scads of photos and video stories as they grow healthy and ready for adoption. And we still need names for them all! But for now, I wanted to share a little slideshow with a message for all the people who gave to this project...

Oh, how I lust, I crave, I waaaannnttt! Those little cuddly bodies are SOOOOO cute! Momma dog looks so grateful.

Okay, now that I'm back in control and realize that being on the other side of the country can only let me look. Thanks guys for giving this family a place. Of course, you all are in the middle of puppy madness. So, I'm sending you lots of patience.

Boy,this is really what it`s all about.I can hear that mother dog breathing a sigh of relief and those puppies will have what every puppy deserves.Perhaps one of those puppies should be named after a special 4 legged member of the crew who was called to the Rainbow Bridge before the project was complete.I`m sure he`s pleased with the first family.

I don't usually like web-based acronyms, but OMG those puppies are cute!

So much promise, so much cuteness. Thank you for my puppy fix.

Of course, the puppies are cute. But the images that tug at my heart are the ones with the mama dog. She looks so serene. Volunteering at a shelter where I see all the pups get adopted while mama dog waits patiently for her forever home, they just get to me.

You're sooo right Dianne.

Mama is the pick of the litter in every way. Amazing dog.

Oh Donna, that made my day! They are all beautiful! I would be happy to come up and scoop poop and entertain the little ones anytime! Mama is beautiful, and a very lucky girl to have found you. Have a blast with them!

Thanks so much for all that you do for the dogs. The barn is wonderful and the first residents are so lucky and so beautiful. As I sit here with tears streaming down my face I will reach over and press the PayPal button on your blog so that I can donate again. I hope that others will, too. Thanks again for taking such good care of the mother and her new babies. All of them are blessed to be with you.

I do intake at a big southern shelter; I see sooooo many pit bull puppies out here, but, srsly, doesn't matter. They're always cute. You don't get tired of it (I mean, yeah, ya do, I'm totally tired of it, please quit breeding pit bulls, man). They are never not the cutest puppies.
I'm so amped to see these muppets evolve.

Let's see, momma & 7: i vote sleeping beauty & the 7 dwarves for names! it's what we would do over here. but, then, we're a little weird.

Oh my, I can't believe what you're doing! THIS is amazing!!!! I hope they all find good homes, because pit bulls are just about the coolest dog in the world, well to me anyways. >.> Keep up the good work!! I'd get another pit bull, but then I would have too many animals. People should really realize that pit bulls are just like any other good dog breed and not some evil and aggressive breed. Once again I'd like to thank you for doing this great deed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *Woots

This is just the pittie fix I need--heading to Haiti again in 2 weeks.
You guys are so great. So wonderful to think of the "Kali window" shining light onto this little family as we approach our 1 year anniversary of her loss.
Sending you all our love.
