Seattle bound, and announcing a Photo Book!

I'll be speaking about Shelter Strategies for Pit Bulls at the Pacific Northwest Animal Care & Control Conference this coming Friday and Saturday. If you live in the area and are curious about better ways to help pit bulls, please set part of your Saturday aside to be there. Sat's session is open to rescue groups and wanna-be rescuers. This is my first-ever time to Seattle, and I'm dying to know, will I get to see a wild orca? (Please, please, please)

Announcing, a Photo Book! We've been so inspired by the beautiful photos and stories that have been pouring in to the photo contest that we've decided to run a group of 'judge's picks' in a book, entitled - what else - My Dog is Family. With some luck, it will be completed in time for the holidays. The contest runs for another two weeks, so please vote for your favorites. And if you still have photos that you want to share - submit! They just may find their way into this new project. Above: Sasha Bean is loved by Lisa Hagell and her family in Lloydminster, Alberta. Lisa says she is the "best friend to our 2 year old daughter. Our family would be incomplete without Sasha Bean." Bless you girls!

And awesome news that you're going to Seattle to counteract some of the other "noise" in that area. We can't wait for the photo book - Hopefully, it will be available by Christmas so it can be the only Christmas gift for friends and family this year!!

Excellent! I've been stunned by the quality and quantity of the entries. I will see if I can get in some more photos this weekend. I'll be among the first to order, and will buy one for our shelter. Get 'em talking in Seattle, and again thanks for all you do.

PS When does Jim Gorant's book come out?

As a Seattle native, I'm so excited you're coming to town and I extend open armed welcomes!
Last time I saw orcas (but I admit I've never gone looking) was on the Victoria Clipper. We had rough seas but saw a lot of orcas. There are many other whale watching options.
Yea for the book! Those photos are so much fun and rewarding to look at.

Sorry I have been absent for the last ten or so days. My eldest dog, Cleo (14 yrs) had to have an emergency surgery, and I was so worried she would not make it. It was very iffy the first five days, but after I gave her her "compassion day" and just held her and loved her, that night she decided to stay with me, and began to drink for the first time in four days, the next day she began to eat again. Now there is no stopping her. But me....... I'm broke, no more votes for Roscoe,Boo-Hoo. Maybe we'll make it into your book (I can dream!)

We are so excited that you are coming to Seattle! We have a beautiful city with even more beautiful Pit bulls. I had planned to be there but my work schedule changed that. I'm hoping for a very open-minded crowd, willing to work with us - not against us. Thank you for coming, and awesome idea with the book! It will be great!

Aw, wwti, so glad Cleo came around! I didn't see a dog named Roscoe up there - does he go by a different name in the contest?Donna, I am so happy to hear about the photo book because more good stuff just keeps getting added & it made me sad to think I wasn't going to get a nice copy of more than a baker's dozen of them. I am totally preparing to stock up on copies of the book - for me, for friends, for my favorite shelter!

Hey - Ms. Sleepless in Oakland,

The book idea inspires my family to share a photo of Uncle Buck with Grandpa from a Thanksgiving past (God Rest Their Souls). His memory book still warms our heart, however it is now out of print.

You're at a milestone of 365 quality enteries to go on a 'day' calendar - a "Pit Bull is Daily Family" capturing a picture and helpful tip on each day calendar.

Inspirational Book and Calendars with Pit Bull Families: Fits you slogan Inspire (as it provides your opportunity)to Educate.

I'll check-back to hear trip details,

Boris

Jim's still working on his book, although he may take a break to join an event in Philly at the end of October.

Oh, and while I'm here, vote for my three entries...including Annie from Oklahoma!

I love the idea of a book...there are so many great pictures I was sorry there weren't more than 12 months in a year!

WHO WOULD HAVE THUNK IT?: I'm glad to hear that Cleo is doing well and if you're talking about Roscoe D'Pibble...I've been wishing for a way to tell you how ADORABLE both he and the picture are. It's my favorite (outside of my own, of course).

I have to tell you what sheer joy it was to look at all of the photos. I was so enraptured by the emotion in each picture that I didn't even notice the quality of the photos. Their stories are touching and uplifting. I will be riding this high for a bit. Thank you.

Gosh, thanks for the well-wishes! Yes Roscoe D'Pibble (AKA Pootie-boy) is my little yellow-eyed hole digger
