It's lazy Sunday. Today's agenda: Eat toasted cinnamon bread, wear pajamas until noon and give that dirty dog a bath! The best Sunday morning inspiration ever comes from this old classic "Luke the Dog" ... from days back when dogs were allowed to be dogs. Love it, love it.

I remember those days.
We used to have so much fun and so did the dogs.
The worst thing that would happen is that someone might take a broom to their hind ends or ours if we got too wacky while playing.
No media reports,no lawsuits,no "dangerous" dogs.
Just commonsense.
Lacking in today`s society and wonderful dogs are paying the price.
Donna - thanks so much, that made my day. I dream of a time when our dogs can go back to being treated just as dogs. Luke was adorable.
Ironically, it's bath time at our house too, Daphne got pretty sweaty and stinky yesterday...
OMG! This just made my day. I haven't laughed this hard in a long time. Laughter is such good medicine. Luke was awesome.

An update on Michael Vick. There is justice for the vicktims. Unfortunately, too late for too many.

That so made my day. I love dogs being dogs...=)
My husband and I were laughing out loud at Luke's antics. Thanks for posting that!
Think of how much fun that dog must have had filming all those 'dirty' deeds! That was so great--thanks for sharing.
Can you just imagine the Press coverage today on those exact same deeds.
Great video clips but saddens me that the dogs today(certain ones) are vilified for chasing, running, jumping, tugging.
All the fun stuff that dogs like to do.
A bit off topic but I just read an interesting comment by Doug Kelley from Denver
"Once you're given the full picture on breed bans, I think you'll see there are more effective solutions," said Davenport, of the Humane Society.
The biggest problem with breed bans, she argues, is they distract from more effective solutions. The solution she offers is to get serious about the laws and penalties imposed on owners of dangerous animals, no matter the breed. Davenport said the laws are often weak, so owners ignore them. And the owners fail to socialize and train their dogs and contain them, and then they don't pay a high enough penalty when those dogs get loose and bite.
Kelley is pushing for the same thing in Denver. He hopes for more stringent laws on dangerous dogs in the next year, and a re-evaluation of the effectiveness of the pit bull ban.
Hey Donna,
Maybe Luke is Osa's great grandfather with all of his silly antics. Reminds me of a few that the Diva has pulled....Thanks for yesterday. Although she was a bit rowdier than last week, that is just what I needed her to do so that Tim could train me to train her! We are already working hard on downs and leave its, and she seems to be getting it. She also seems to be lapping the house as fast as she can right now......hmmmmmmmmm.....this can't be good.
You and Tim have a great week! See you next Saturday, and we will be leavin' it and down!

Oh Luke.. what a great dog!
Speaking of which.. did Joker, the brindle cutie you had up a few months ago, ever get a home?
anon, Joker's home is staying anonymous because his former owner is a nut. he's still my all time favorite brindle love.
thanks for that update Donna. I just love that vid you made of Joker (thug gangsta of love) playing with the other dogs. I hope the future will be good for him
Ohmigod, what an amazingly wonderful clip! Where on earth did you find it?
What I find amazing is that unlike RinTinTin or Pete the Pup, Luke was the personal pet of Roscoe Arbuckle (his co-star in many of the scenes). So, though Luke was obviously trained, he wasn't 'handled' in the way those dogs were. Arbuckle and Buster Keaton cleverly edited him to show off his doggy talents: rip-roaring running, tugging, and climbing! I love the bath scene where he's getting his nails filed. Charisma to burn!
