Pssst. Pit bulls on PBS - Friday Jan 21st.

We're happy to announce a special feature on PBS that will introduce some of our favorite dogs to the television audience. The show is called 'Need to Know' and it's airing Friday, January 21st.

Check here for the SCHEDULE in your zip code.

Journalist William Brangham came to us with a lot of questions about the status of the surviving dogs trom the Vick case. He and his crew spent many hours filming dogs including Jonny Justice, Audie, Frodo, and Hector. You'll hear from the owners of the dogs as well as Jim Gorant, author of 'The Lost Dogs,' several members of BADRAP and Steve Zawistowski of the ASPCA.

We haven't viewed it yet, but are happy to report that there will no gruesome dog fighting footage or interviews with PeTA in this show. Yay.

We expect this to be a sensitive, intelligent piece. Enjoy!

  6. It seems PBS doesn't reach everyone - like it should! Have no fear. This segment will be posted online and we'll post a link when it does.

  7. I'm looking forward to it. The Alpha cat woke me at 4:45 am to prove he can too open the closed BR door and hiss at the kitten so I may have to take a disco nap. I'll do my best. And yay no PeTA!!!!

  10. You guys looked great on PBS! I got such a kick out of watching the familiar barn characters in action.

I thought they did a nice job of covering a couple different dogs' stories, highlighted some nice points from The Lost Dogs.

Congratulations on the successful segment. I hope it reached some of the people who could use this information most.

  11. My only complaint - way too short. Both you & Tim were terrific. I got tears in my eyes when Jonny & Hector were on. The story was really well done and I think they touched on all of the important points.

Thanks BadRap for your diligence, belief, hard work and love (and thanks to ASPCA and Jim Gorant too). What a wonderful story. I don't tire of hearing the happy endings (I could do without the super sad parts but it's an important party of the story for people to hear). The more we can spread the word about the reality of the dogs...

I am so proud of your work and all you do for these abused and maligned dogs.

I hope Vick, Oprah and Pierce watch it.

  20. We were grinning ear to ear. Everyone in our circle is half happy and half terrified when the cameras show up to tell the dogs' story, because suddenly it's all in the hands of strangers and good GOD what IF they go for a little formula gore and we end up regretting saying 'Yes?' Feels so good to say, 'Okay - that worked well.' Whew. Thanks for the kind feedback, all. Please let them know that you found this story interesting so they aren't leery of doing more exploration of this topic.

Yeah, what a great piece. I particularly loved the way that they distilled the original question of what was to happen to the dogs into a very concise summary--very accessible and well done.
